Ralph is an 11 week old Cavapoo puppy. In his first week with us he has certainly made an impression and it is hard to think of our family without him already!
This blog will follow Ralph as he grows, documenting every major milestone along the way! From toilet training to food transitioning, we will share our tips with you and our in-house vet, Leticia, will give her FREE advice
We look forward to sharing our journey with you!
Getting a puppy is new and exciting and can bring a lot of joy to your life! Whilst there is no specific veterinary advice that I can give to you at this stage, my general advice would be make sure that you are ready for this big commitment!
Getting a puppy means that you need to ensure that your house is “puppy ready” as they like to chew and bite things, like chairs, carpets and most things in reach…. It is a good idea to get a “puppy cage” to make them feel comfortable. This is their space to own so remember to add their favourite toys and also an object of your own as this will allow them to feel close to you from your scent.
Think of your new puppy as a baby, a simple stair for them is like we are claiming a 2m tall wall, so I recommend getting a stair gate to avoid any falls. This also teaches the puppy your house boundaries. Puppy pads should be used to avoid any ‘accidents’ around your house.
Finally, take the time to get to know your pup and enjoy this lovely playful age! Patience is key!
