We make our wet food recipes with more real meat…

Applaws tins, pots and pouches are made from human grade chicken breast or fish fillets.  These prime cuts of meat are formed from muscle tissue.  Muscle fibres are high in natural taurine and arginine.   They are two of the essential amino acids that cats have to ingest from their diet.  They can’t synthesize taurine and arginine themselves.

Arginine deficiency is more likely to become a problem if a low protein is fed because the arginine content is also likely to be low. Taurine supports normal eye and heart muscle function, encourages a healthy immune system and reproduction in female cats. Cats are not able to make enough taurine themselves and rely on it being provided in food and Applaws provides natural meat taurine because it is made with real meat.

Chicken breast and fish fillets (like tuna, mackerel, sardine and salmon) also provide natural sources of Omega fatty acids.  Omega 3 for example contains EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) & DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) which can help to support good health in cats of all ages and particularly important for kittens (and pregnant cats).  DHA constitutes one of the `building blocks’ of the brain, forming about 8% of the brain by weight.

EPA works similarly to DHA as an essential nutrient and is considered to be one of the single most vital nutrients in the functioning of the brain and nervous system.
